Who I Work With:
I work with people who are struggling, either stuck in a place where they are unsure of how to navigate, or people impacted by so many different situations and struggles that they feel overwhelmed by life. I work with people who are in transitions in their lives, and I work with people who are struggling with the past and wanting to move forward. And I work with people who even want to just be happier, less anxious, or more present. And if this is you, or as you read these sentences you feel like you can relate to these sentiments, I bring to the table a genuine care and desire for you to feel heard and be heard, and to work collaboratively with you as we tackle the goals you want to pursue towards the life you want to live. Together we will work together towards making progress, building new habits and exploring strategies to improve your life, and navigating the complex struggle of change. All this with humility and the occasional bad joke.
I specialize in:
Individuals
Teens
Children
Families
Couples
Trauma
Depression
Anxiety
Neurodiversity
LGBTQIA+
EMDR
A little about me:
Hello, my name is Adam Hogsett, and I believe that we all have a story. These stories carry with them their struggles, complication, and uniqueness. For me, I believe in working with people so that despite the complexity of the story, the past struggles, they may feel strengthened to choose how their story will go, and live more fulfilling lives. To this end, not only have I received a Master’s in counseling psychology at Santa Clara University, but I have also worked for a year to serve people in the local community, helping them through their struggles with depression, anxiety, low SES, Trauma, and so much more. I also volunteered to help LGBTQIA+ members in crisis and mitigate suicidal risk for almost two years, helping to promote rapid change for people in critical moments and helping them feel heard.
I developed a passion for creating a safe and supportive space for people to dive into their struggles and work collaboratively to help people improve their situations. I approach my work with this collaborative mentality, a genuine curiosity, and an interest in the intersecting factors be them culture, race, gender, sexuality, and more. I draw from approaches such as CBT, DBT, ACT, EMDR, Family models, and Strengths Based Approaches.
And while I work with people collaboratively, I also check in with them, making sure that we are working at their pace, covering their goals, and making sure that their voice is heard. And adjusting our work together to work to reflect this feedback to overcome barriers with this work. I believe a person in my office should always have a say, and should never be afraid to speak up about their struggles during this journey.
